WATER HEATER DIFFERENCE BASICS

A typical hot water heater last anywhere from 8-10 years, tankless last much longer.  There are two main types, tankless water heaters and tank water water heaters and either gas or electric. The most common use in Southern California are gas, tank water heaters, they usually range from 40 to 75 gallons for residential applications and typically cost anywhere from $500-$1500 for the unit. Tankless water heaters cost anywhere from $600-$3000 for the unit. There are advantages to each application keep in mind the installation cost will be higher on a tankless. Tankless water heaters can cost more to install because of the plumbing needed to ensure they work correctly. The advantages to tankless are, they take up a lot less space, provide ongoing supply of hot water, last longer and are more efficient then traditional water heaters. Some Tankless water heaters have built in recirculation pumps that get water to fixtures fast. Standard tank water heaters are more common and take less time to install.
